Making your USB memory stick safe!

Melbourne, 10 February 2010 - It's not uncommon for malware to be introduced to home or business PCs via the use of a memory stick.

What should you do when introducing a memory stick to your computer? You have 2 options:

1. Make checking of removable devices automatic with AVG...

  1. Open the AVG user interface
  2. Select "Tools" from the menu bar at the top and open "Advanced Settings"
  3. On the left menu click on "Scans" and then "Removable Device Scan"
  4. Enable the "Removable Device Scan"

2. Run an AVG scan manually before accessing any of the files. To do this...

  1. Open my computer
  2. Insert the memory stick
  3. Right click on it
  4. Scan with AVG

As with any file transfer activity be smart, be aware, be careful, and you can stay safe.
